The group is confident they can justify the record price they paid to buy the team. |
New Dodger Owners Have Cash
and a Santa Monica Office Too
Baseball fans throughout Southern California were thrilled the Guggenheim Partners won the bid to buy the Dodgers with Magic Johnson as their front man and a fund of $125 Billion to back them up. Guggenheim is headed by Mark Walter with offices in Chicago and New York and believe it or not, Santa Monica. Walter and his wife Kimbra (above) live along Lake Michigan in Chicago. She is a trustee of the Lincoln Park Zoo and a major fund raiser for Guggenheim. |

Santa Monica Based Oil Firm Triggers
Lawsuit Against City of Hermosa Beach
Bakersfield based E and B Natural Resources has announced a major public relations campaign to overcome the oil drilling ban in Hermosa Beach. The original lawsuit was brought by Santa Monica based McPherson Oil. McPherson sued the city in 1998 claiming damages of $750 Million. Law suit was settled March 2nd. E and B bought out McPherson’s interest and a vote on lifting the drilling ban which will be held in 2013. If the the ballot measure is rejected the city will have to pay E and B $17.5 Million. Hermosa Beach dilemma is reminiscent of the decade long battle between Mobil Oil and Santa Monica wherein the oil company was defeated in three showdown votes. |
